Ryan Buist is a Chartered Business Valuator who joined CBM as a partner in 2025. Prior to joining CBM, he was a partner at Portage M&A Advisory. Before that, he worked at Taylor Leibow in the Business Valuation and Litigation Support department as a Business Valuation Specialist. Earlier in his career, he spent several years as a proprietary equities trader before returning to school to pursue his MBA.

During his studies, Ryan completed co-op placements with OSFI (the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions), which supervises and regulates federally registered banks, and Global Governance Advisors, a compensation advisory firm specializing in compensation, succession planning, and corporate governance. In both roles, he regularly engaged with senior management teams and boards of directors.

Ryan’s primary focus is on business valuation and transaction advisory. His experience and academic background enable him to support entrepreneurs in growing their businesses through strategic acquisitions and to guide them through divestitures with effective exit strategies. He also works closely with clients to enhance business value by identifying and implementing value-creation initiatives.
